Company Background
IEC became incorporated in October of 1999 and, with the help of local investors, began its day-to-day operations as a startup company in February of 2000. IEC was awarded the Innovative Business of the Year Award later in 2000 by the Small Business Association and Lamar State College in Port Arthur. IEC also received the Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition for outstanding and invaluable service to the community in 2000. IEC went on to be named the Small Business of the Year in 2001 and was featured in an October 2001 article in Control Engineering Magazine. IEC has continued to expand its credibility and training products throughout the petrochemical industry.
GARY CLIETT, the founder of IEC Simulations, has 26 years of experience in operations, instrumentation and electrical within the DuPont Corporation. His direct involvement with project installations and process unit start-ups has enabled Mr. Cliett to develop expert troubleshooting techniques with industrial circuitry. Such circuitry includes safety interlocks, distributive control system configuration, process control loops, and programmable logic circuitry. Mr. Cliett is responsible for the development and implementation of distributive control system procedures associated with Bailey Controls (now ABB), Honeywell, and Moore Products. These procedures have been utilized globally throughout DuPont. Additional experience in the field of training and education has allowed Mr. Cliett to obtain critical knowledge of OSHA and Process Safety Management regulations and standards. Mr. Cliett has been recognized throughout industry in the United States with numerous awards and certificates. He served as an advisor and subject matter expert for Lamar State College – Port Arthur on the "Computer Maintenance & Instrument Technology Advisory Committee," along with serving a similar position on the "Computer Robotics Technology Advisory Committee" for the Lamar Institute of Technology – Beaumont. Mr. Cliett also served on the National Advisory Committee at Lee College for the "Center for Digital and Fieldbus Technological Education and is associated with numerous colleges under the incumbent worker grant program.
